'Memory' from 'Cats'

The song Memory is from the musical play 'Cats', by Andrew Lloyd Webber and covered by Elaine Paige.

This is Elaine Paige with the cast of 'Cats' singing memory with Veerle Castelyn (her voice was dubbed by Helen Massie). Elaine Paige played Grizabella while Veerle played Jemima. This is from the 1998 Cats video.

And below here is Elaine Paige singing Memory Live in London in 1998.

Here's the lyrics to Memory from the musical "Cats".

Daylight
See the dew on the sunflower
And a rose that is fading
Roses whither away
Like the sunflower
I yearn to turn my face to the dawn
I am waiting for the day . . .

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every streetlamp
Seems to beat a fatalistic warning
Someone mutters
And the streetlamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I musn't give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
The streetlamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You'll understand what happiness is

Look
A new day has begun...

Susan Boyle - Britain's Got Talent Semi Final 2009 (Part 2)

Unlikely UK sensation Boyle sings rousing 'Memory'

By DAVID STRINGER
Sun May 24, 5:20 pm ET

LONDON – Surprise singing sensation Susan Boyle made a new television appearance Sunday, showcasing once again her soaring voice — but refusing to compromise on the frumpy look that made her an Internet sensation.

The shy church volunteer gave a rousing, but occasionally nervous, performance on the "American Idol"-style show "Britain's Got Talent," with a version of the song "Memory" from the musical "Cats."

Members of the public voting in a telephone poll picked her as the best of eight performers who appeared Sunday, meaning she will sing again in the contest's final next Saturday.

Flashing a broad smile, Boyle danced in delight as results were announced and said had relished the chance to perform. "Fantastic, absolutely fantastic," she said. "What pressure? I've really enjoyed myself tonight."

Wearing a plum colored beaded dress — and a touch more makeup than during her last performance — but with the same unruly shock of hair, Boyle overcame early jitters to deliver a powerful vocal.

Producers said the 47-year-old's appearance was being posted on the Internet almost immediately, after about 60 million people watched her last performance via YouTube.

In her first performance last month, judges who'd raised eyebrows at Boyle's dowdy image were won over by her bold voice and surprisingly confident performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables." The sometimes awkward looking Scot won praise from celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey and Demi Moore, and even won a name check in her favorite cartoon "The Simpsons."

On Sunday, the show's judges and audience rose to their feet to applaud, but those posting comments to the Twitter Web site appeared divided. While some hailed her performance, others appeared underwhelmed.

Bookmaker William Hill has made her a runaway favorite to win on May 30.

Contestants are competing to perform at Britain's annual Royal Variety Show — attended by members of the royal family — and win a 100,000 pound ($159,000) prize.

The singer, who lives alone with her cat Pebbles in one of Scotland's poorest regions, said before Sunday's performance that she wouldn't transform her appearance. "I just want people to see me for who I am, and do my best at singing the song, that's what I am focusing on," she said.

Boyle, who says she's never been kissed, grew up the youngest of nine children in Blackburn, a community of 4,750 people 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of Edinburgh, in Scotland, and a district blighted by unemployment and crime. She suffered learning difficulties as a child and was bullied by other children.

As an adult, she's struggled for work but had been a regular on her local karaoke circuit and performed in church choirs.

In an interview with The Associated Press at her home last month, she said the death of her mother had inspired her to enter the TV talent show.

"I wanted to show her I could do something with my life," Boyle said.

Susan Boyle - Britain's Got Talent Semi Final 2009 (Part 1)

Susan Boyle from Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland has attained international stardom in a matter of weeks with tens of millions worldwide witnessing her brilliant, touching rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Miserables on Britain’s Got Talent, which won over the panel of cynical and disbelieving judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden and a contemptuous audience who had no idea of what to expect from the singer who declared she wanted to emulate the successful career of West End legend Elaine Paige.

Now the Susan Boyle Memory video of her latest brilliant performance shows that she gained a standing ovation from all of the judges and accolades from each of them.

Piers Morgan told her she looked beautiful and went on to say, “The world is going through a pretty tough time and looking for a bit of hope and inspiration. Along came Susan Boyle to provide it, and, on behalf of the whole world - because they’re all watching you tonight - thank you, Susan, because you’ve been terrific.”

Amanda Holden said she had been biting all of her ‘acrylic nails’ and that she was so happy for the singer, that she ‘nailed’ the performance.

Simon Cowell, told her, “You are one special lady, I have to say, you really are.’ He went on say, ‘I just want to apologize because of the way we treated you before you sang the first time. You made me and everyone else look very stupid.’ He added: I’m very happy, I’m very proud of you.

With only a very slight Susan Boyle makeover (after incessant talk on the subject), the singer had beautifully coiffed dark hair (recently dyed) and wore an elegant but simple dark purple dress.

Here are several Susan Boyle pictures from the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals performance, revealing her new look.

One can only imagine how it could have been to sing with literally the world watching, and after weeks of intense speculation, and millions who had already seen the initial Susan Boyle video that has become a worldwide YouTube viral video sensation, a media star, and an inspirational story around the world. You can see the video that launched her international recognition on YouTube here.

But the Susan Boyle Memory video reveals the singer prevailing in the BGT semi-final on May 24, 2009.

In an interview Susan Boyle said:

“All my life I’ve always striven to prove that I can be accepted; that I’m not the worthless person that people think I am, that I do have something to offer.

“Being on Britain’s Got Talent is a chance to turn things around; to fulfil the dream. I just want that chance to perform in front of the Queen.”

Susan Boyle, along with dance troupe Diversity was selected for the finals. We will soon witness the singer perform again on May 30, 2009 on the Britain’s Got Talent Finals.

I think I'm gonna be sick..

I have a headache, I'm feeling dizzy and I want to sleep.

No, I don't have the H1N1 virus and NO, I'm not pregnant. I'm just kinda tired, have a sore throat and my head feels hot. I want to go home but I'm still okay. I just walked through the rain after lunch, need to go home and have a bath, and go to sleep.

But probably I will go to sleep after playing DOTA, haha...

I'm a Gemini and Proud of it

Gemini Female

The Gemini woman is full of enthusiasm. A vivacious, shining beauty, she can talk about a wide variety of subjects, and she is curious about everything. Don`t advise a Gemini woman that she would be better off doing one thing at a time, for she needs variety and pursues a multitude of interests. She is actually at her best when swamped with things to do!

NID: Yup, this is true! I tend to get bored if I do the same monotonous thing every day. But don’t give me too much work or I will stress out.

Gemini is an ace communicator too, particularly adept at sharing her emotions and thoughts (Take away her cell phone and it is like taking away oxygen.) She doesn`t go for a man who crowds her or who limits her space. Gemini is symbolized by the twins flying through the air, and to set limits on a Gemini is like trapping a lovely bird in a small cage.

NID: I’m not a gossipper but I need to talk to someone that I trust about my day. I like man who doesn’t control and thinks that he owned me, he just let me be me.

Your Challenge

This is a busy woman with endless lists of things to accomplish. She does have a tendency to be a bit forgetful too but who wouldn`t with her lifestyle? She does more in a week than most of us accomplish in a month! You will need to remain Priority One with her, a hard task, when you`re competing with all her activities, friends and admirers.

NID: She does more in a week than most of us accomplish in a month! – Well, not really coz’ sometimes my laziness takes control and slowed my activities, and my progress. And yes, I’m a forgetful person but I remember the important dates in my life and in my relationship.

How to Handle Her (Handle me? You think I’m a horse meh?)

Read up on current issues, whether it is art, technology, movies, or books--anything interesting you that is topical. Then suggest to her that you and she check out a show or meet in a late night coffee shop to discuss the issues. Gemini adores a lively debate (she was probably captain of her debating team in college). Browse with her in a good bookstore, one that plays music to encourage lingering (Gemini rules the printed words, thus, she is happy in book shops.)

Or, if she has a new laptop, offer to help her set up her system folder (She has the brains to do it, but prefers to do things like that for the company.) Suggest you go window shopping for a new fax machine one night after work, so that she can choose the best one when she`s ready. Convince her to let you assess the various local cellular phone carriers to choose the best deal for her, then meet to discuss your findings. As you see all these things are communication-oriented, and believe it or not, as dorky as these things seem, they will really turn her on. She will love you for your thoughtfulness. Trust me on this.

NID: I rarely catch up with the current issues and current entertainment news. How do you know I was the captain of my debating team? Yes, I love books and I love True Singapore Ghost Stories even though I’m not a Singaporean. About the computer thingy in the office, I’m a not a computer expert but mostly the staffs in my office would asked me about computer, printer, software, Microsoft Office, antivirus and camera. Talking to me about computer and other gadgets will NOT turn me on…seriously.

Things to Do, Gifts to Buy

Buy her a cellular phone or a beeper with voice mail messaging, with prepaid service for a year so you can call her up and leave sexy messages. Or give her an all-expense-paid-trip for two (with you!) to an inland hideaway (Be sure there are cultural activities and night life available-- remember, Gemini needs lots of stimulation). No money? Then fax her a naughty love note if her machine is private or else FedEx her an overnight letter filled with pink and red rose petals-- she will be thrilled by your creativity.

In bed, whisper words and little stories you`ve imagined or read. She is the most verbal of all the signs, and her strong intellect and rich imagination is your surest way to passionate love. Read portions of steamy novels too while in bed, and don`t be afraid to laugh or have fun with her when making love. She is one of the most spontaneous of all the signs. Since Gemini is the sign which rules versatility, she will appreciate your reading up on different lovemaking positions--and she`ll be willing to try almost anything at least once. One more hint: she is very verbal, and therefore highly oral. Enough said? You lucky dude, you.

NID: All this only can be done by my loved ones and not strangers, okay? But I really need a new cell phone, hehe…

Wash my laundy dream

Last night I had a weird dream. Not a scary one but rather a funny and not logical.

I dreamed that someone showed that if I don't wash my underwear, bad things will come out from the underwear. He or she (don't know the gender only saw the hands) then soaked the underwear into a bucket of water with detergent then all of a sudden many cockroaches and its eggs coming out from the underwear like sands that passed through your hands. Yiiii…

Why I dreamed about my underwear? This is probably because I stacked my laundry in my room and haven't got the time (and energy) to do them yet. Maybe tonight I will do my laundry.

Maybe…hehe…
